Happy new year
15 FEB 2007
It's been a while since we updated the website, but we've been woking flat out on a new range of furniture over the last few months. With all the late nights slumped over foamboard models and several trips up north to build prototypes, time has been limited. Anyway, we're very excited about the way the project is progressing and can't wait to show it, but first stop: the Patent Office.

We have moved!
3 OCT 2006
Not yet actually, but we will be next week. We've found a new studio in the stunning Leathermarket buildings near London Bridge.

PROJECTS

Folding bread board

 for Joseph Joseph
Beech chopping board with integrated plastic hinge.

Makes it easy to transfer food to a pot, or waste to the bin, without spillages.

Available in two versions - with or without grooves.

Smasher

Mashing made easy.

Joseph Joseph asked us to reinvent the potato masher and, twenty kilograms of potatoes later, we did.

The spring-loaded outer ring captures the potato, forcing it through the holes in the masher plate - no more chasing potatoes around the pan!

It works really well, it's easy to clean, and great fun to use.

Rinse&Chop
A chopping board and colander in one.
The preparation of most fruit and veg involves an element of rinsing and chopping. Rinse&Chop combines a colander with a chopping board, creating a versatile and convenient kitchen tool that saves on cleaning and storage.
From the flat chopping position it can be folded into a chute with a colander at one end. Here it can be locked in position to rinse/drain then pour the contents into a pan or container.
Rinse&Chop is made from a single piece of polypropylene with grippy rubber edges. It uses 4 durable living-hinges to allow it to fold, a catch to hold it in the folded position and a "snap-flat" feature to ensure that the board is always flat when chopping.
Patent pending: PCT/GB2008/050571

Folding Colander
The thinnest colander in the world!
It folds completely flat for easy storage and cleaning. As a single piece of polypropylene, it uses 12 living-hinges to achieve its transformation and has four catches to hold it in the folded position. It took 149 prototypes to resolve the design for manufacture!
The Folding Colander won a Red Dot award in 2008 and is now sold in the best design and kitchenware shops all over the world.
Patent pending: PCT/GB2008/050571

Cut&Carve
A double sided chopping board for the preperation of various food types without the mess. With a sloping cutting surface and raised lip any juices or crumbs collect at the rear edge of the board allowing them to be easily discarded or reused.

Dual Chopping Board
Joseph Joseph is a brand of table-ware and kitchen products combining style and function.
In our first product collaboration with Joseph Joseph, we jointly developed an innovative chopping board that was launched at trade fairs in Paris and Birmingham.
In beech and moulded polyethylene, Dual caters for a range of chopping needs while avoiding cross contamination of food types. The two boards are held together with a patented magnetic fixing which enables easy separation for flexible use and cleaning.

GAS cooking appliances A reinterpretation of the traditional gas hob.
Individual gas sockets are installed around the kitchen and throughout the home, and various plug-and-play appliances are attached as required.

the SLAB collection
Corian furniture and accessories for Brilliant Fires.
The fire has always been at the heart of domestic life and remains central to modern interiors, influencing the layout, orientation and atmosphere of its surroundings.
The Slab Collection is a luxurious range of furniture and accessories that formalizes the relationship between the fire and the key pieces within the living space. By embracing the material and aesthetic qualities found in Brilliant’s award winning modern fires, the Slab Collection exploits the seamless properties of Corian to create pure monolithic shapes.

Lines & Loops
Lines & Loops uses Corian as an artistic media and focuses on the subtle but expressive qualities of a hand-drawn line, contrasted with the geometric panel. Each piece is commissioned from a unique freehand sketch that is digitised, scaled and recreated on a CNC router. Once inlaid, each becomes a unique piece of art.
Lines & Loops is part of the C-lection, a range of ten pieces by ten designers from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the US. Each piece showcases a different use for Corian as a household object.
DesignWright was commissioned alongside Khodie Feiz, Claudio Colucci, Ineke Hans, Jérôme Tarby, Satyendra Pakhalé, Jeffrey Bernett, Massayou Ave, Adam & Viktoria and Dumoffice.
The products in C-lection were launched at 100%Design June 2003 in Rotterdam, and were shown in the Milan Fair in April 2004. They are available from selected outlets in the Netherlands.

Element gas fire for Brilliant
Originating from Adrian's final year project at the RCA, the visual concept for the Element expresses the process of gas combustion and re-interprets lost practices associated with fire, such as using hot pebbles to boil water.
Its bold features, compact proportions and wall mounted installation make it ideal for minimal interiors and those with a limited floor space. As the first 'honest' gas fire it has had a significant impact on the UK market.
AWARDS - Winner of the Classic Design Readers Award 2003, organised by Homes & Gardens magazine, Victoria & Albert Museum and HRH Prince of Wales.
PRESS - The fire was featured in an article on new design graduates (Wallpaper* Sept/Oct 1998) and more recently (2003) in the Evening Standard, the Independent and the Guardian.

Brilliant Fires
Brilliant are a British manufacturer of gas fires and fireplaces. Now in their third decade, the Brilliant name has become synonymous with market leading design and quality.
Since 2001, Adrian and Jeremy have worked closely with Brilliant to develop their portfolio of products, improve their production methods and to advise on design direction.
AWARDS - Brilliants products have won many industry awards since 2001 including Fireplace of the Year for three consecutive years.

Billy Bench for DuPont
DuPont commissioned several benches to showcase Zodiaq, a new material, as part of its launch at 100%Design 2003. The aim was to express the qualities of Zodiaq and demonstrate alternative uses.
As Zodiaq is a hard sheet material that is normally used in monolithic applications, our intention was to derive an appropriate and natural form with 3D curvature. As it is difficult to create sculptural forms in the sheet face, we experimented with a vertical orientation and edge profiling.
The swell cut provides a focus for the bench and expresses the solitude of sitting alone.
In a vertical orientation the material can act as a weight bearing beam and through the visible edges, Zodiaq's solidity is emphasised.
Other concepts were inspired by a church pew, Zodiaq's material integrity and the ways it can be combined with other materials.
